Fiber Types We Install
- OS2 single-mode — the standard for distance work: building-to-building, campus backbone, ISP demarc handoffs, anything over a few hundred meters. Yellow jacket, 9/125 micron core, supports multi-gigabit at distance.
- OM3 multimode — cost-effective inside-building backbone, supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet to ~300m, 40 Gigabit to ~100m. Aqua jacket, 50/125 micron laser-optimized.
- OM4 multimode — longer reach than OM3 at the same speeds (10G to 400m, 40/100G to 150m). Specified more often in newer data center and SAN designs. Aqua or violet jacket, 50/125 micron.
- OM5 multimode — wideband multimode for SWDM/CWDM applications. Lime green jacket. Less common in West Tennessee commercial work but we can quote when spec'd.
Fiber Work We Do
- Outside-plant pulls (between buildings on a campus, in conduit or aerial)
- Inside-plant backbone (MDF to IDF, vertical risers, horizontal between floors)
- Fusion splicing with Sumitomo or Fujikura splicers (low loss, splice-on connectors when needed)
- Mechanical splicing for emergency or temporary repairs
- LC, SC, ST, and MTP/MPO terminations
- OTDR testing with both wavelengths (1310/1550 nm single-mode; 850/1300 nm multimode), full traces saved as PDF
- Loss budget calculations and certified link reports
- Fiber enclosure (LIU) and patch panel installation, labeling
Common Use Cases
- Connecting a satellite warehouse to the main office on the same campus
- Replacing a saturated copper backbone between floors with 10G or 40G fiber
- ISP fiber handoff into a building's MDF with proper test and termination
- SAN-to-server fiber for high-performance storage
- Distance runs to security camera NVRs across a property
