Cable Testing & Certification
Every job we run gets certified with a Fluke DSX-8000 cable analyzer. Permanent-link or channel test per TIA/EIA, full signed PDF report by drop. Required for most manufacturer warranties and a hard requirement on government, healthcare, and education work.

What "Certified" Actually Means
"Tested" and "certified" are different things. A continuity test or basic wire-map check tells you the cable is connected end-to-end. A certified test runs the cable through the full TIA/EIA-568 parameter sweep at the frequency band of the cable category — insertion loss, return loss, NEXT (near-end crosstalk), PSNEXT, ELFEXT, ACR-F, propagation delay, delay skew. Each parameter is measured across the full frequency range and compared to the standard, then reported with margin in dB.
Manufacturer warranties (Panduit System Plus, Leviton Atlas-X1, CommScope SYSTIMAX, Belden DataTuff) all require certified test reports submitted with the warranty registration. Federal, state, school district, and most healthcare jobs require certified reports as part of contract closeout.
What You Get
- Per-drop PDF report — one page per cable, with all parameters charted, margin values displayed, and PASS/FAIL stamped
- Summary report — one-page rollup with total drop count, pass/fail count, any drops requiring rework
- Native LinkWare files — so your IT team can re-open the raw test data in Fluke's LinkWare PC software if they need to dig into a specific result
- Test settings documented — cable type tested (Cat6 / Cat6a / etc.), test profile (Permanent Link / Channel), test bandwidth, calibration date
When We Test
- Post-install — every drop we install gets tested before we leave the site
- Test-only on existing cable — we'll certify an existing system that was installed without testing, to support a warranty submission or audit
- Troubleshoot a failed link — if your IT team is seeing weird link issues on a specific drop, we test it to pinpoint the cause (NEXT failure, length too long, mis-terminated, kinked cable)
- Acceptance testing — for general contractors or property owners taking over a building, we'll certify all data drops as part of the punch-list closeout
